About Contentwise and the editors we write for
We run a link index and a small API, and we write for the people who decide which posts live, change or go.
What we operate
Contentwise is a backlink-data service. It has a free online explorer and a REST API that returns JSON for backlinks, referring domains, anchor text, top pages and a 0 to 100 Domain Rating.
The data comes from our own crawler and our own index: 181,132,097 domains, 2,774,625,913 domain-to-domain links and about 798.5 billion backlinks. It refreshes roughly once a month. That is slower than the daily crawls of the big suites, and we say so on every page where it matters.
Our research team writes the guides here. We publish as a team and name no individuals, because the pages are meant to be judged on their method.
Our readers? Editors, content leads and audit owners at publishers, agencies and in-house teams. They rarely want a backlink prospecting suite. They want a quick answer to whether a page is safe to change.

How to start
Type a domain into the free lookup on the home page. If it is useful, sign in with Google and receive $100 of free credit, which is 1,000,000 credits and needs no card.
Then read the scorecard field reference and the refresh-or-prune tree. Top-ups later are in USDT (TRC-20) from the account page.
Tools are tools. An inbound link checker is only as good as the question you bring to it. That is why most pages on this site are decision aids: a tree, a table, a field list, a post-mortem. Pick one that matches your next meeting.

Pricing in one paragraph
Credit is prepaid. One credit is $0.0001, so calls start from $0.10 per 1,000. There is no subscription and no monthly minimum. For comparison, Ahrefs sells API units inside plans, from $129 a month for 200,000 units, at least 50 units per request. They are the fuller product when you need keywords and rank tracking; this one is a cheap source of link data.

- Who writes the guides on this site?
- The Contentwise research team, as a group. We name no individuals and invent no personas. Pages are judged on method, so each one states its data source, its limits and where Ahrefs or Semrush would serve you better.
- Where does the link data come from?
- From our own crawler and our own index, refreshed roughly once a month. We do not name or resell third-party data sources. Because of the refresh cycle, new links can take weeks to appear.
- Do you sell links or promise a position in Google?
- No. Contentwise reports link data and nothing else, so the sheet you build from it stays your own work. Nobody can promise a ranking, and pages here that discuss outcomes always call their numbers examples.
